Symposium on artificial intelligence in music

Date: August 2, 2024

AI as an economic factor in the music business

Artificial intelligence has now become an integral part of almost all art forms. The computer-generated evaluation of audience-oriented contemporary trends in applied and popular music, coupled with the use of AI, already enables target group-oriented, tailor-made songs. This is of particular benefit to players in the commercial music industry. But even beyond the mainstream, which comprises around 95% of all music production, many autonomous artists from a wide range of music genres are experimenting with AI, often without necessarily pursuing economic goals.

Effects on the music business

The use of AI raises several questions: What impact does AI have on today's music business, especially in applied and popular music? Is AI-supported music more successful in these areas? What does this mean for the music business as a whole? Does music outside the mainstream still have a chance at all? How does AI influence so-called new music? How is AI changing creative processes? Will we only listen to AI-generated music in the future?

Symposium on the topic of AI

The narrowly defined focus of this symposium on the general topic of artificial intelligence allows for deeper and more detailed insights into the music of various genres created by or with the help of AI or inspired by it. The event will highlight the multifaceted aspects of the connection between AI and music and at the same time show perspectives for the future. The symposium offers a unique opportunity to take an in-depth look at the diverse effects and potential of AI in music and to understand how AI is changing the musical landscape in the long term.
