Stepping Stone

“Stepping Stone” is a multi-disciplinary, comprehensive, personal development programme which brings together topics from art and politics, music and science, as well as management, altering and transcending accustomed perspectives and behaviours and enabling individual development and a broad education – precisely because education is the product of the unique experiences and discoveries of each individual participant. “Stepping Stone” is international. Participants in “Stepping Stone” can acquire up to 6 ECTS credits towards their courses of study.

The “Stepping Stone” educational project invites as participants:

  • Secondary/high school student interns:
Students gain thorough insight into all operations and are actively involved in the design of the Festival.
  • Junior interns:
Junior interns are given the chance to work independently and with a high degree of responsibility, under professional guidance (suitable for secondary school graduates with achievement commensurate with British A-Levels, and first year university students).
  • Senior interns:
Here, aspiring young professionals receive special training at the start of their careers. Participants have the opportunity to assume responsibility for projects, gaining practical professional experience (suitable for advanced students).
  • Trainees:
Here, aspiring young professionals receive special training at the start of their careers. Participants assume responsibility for projects, gaining practical professional experience (suitable for university graduates and advanced students).

“Stepping Stone” has three objectives, and is designed as:

  • a programme for young international artists
  • a special educational and culture marketing programme for the local region of Upper Franconia
  • a workshop for young people at the start of their careers, who are interested in cultural management and would like to explore the field.

The workshop is designed to accomodate around 30 participants; applications are invited from young people at the start of their careers from all fields, including business management, the arts and humanities, engineering, cultural management and skilled crafts and trades. Particular effort is made to strengthen cultural dialogue between countries.

Examples of educational opportunities
  • Workshop on team building and presence coaching with practical techniques from the theatre
  • Lectures and role play on the subjects of communication and intercultural management, personal development, career exploration and training in media literacy and skills
  • Participation in the seminar “Cultural Management Training”
  • Instructors with international experience give presentations on project management, fundraising and sponsorship, financial administration, public relations and marketing for cultural institutions. Specific emphasis is placed on fostering so-called “soft skills”. Courses on public speaking and presentation, microphone training, style and colour guidance, business etiquette, time management and job application training complete.
